On August 28 ans 29, 2010, BBR celebrated it’s 10th annual BassetFest. BassetFest is the biggest fund raising event the organization holds. Basset Buddies Rescue has been instrumental in the rescue and re-homing of more than 1300 Basset Hounds throughout Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Northern Illinois since 2000. All funds received at BassetFest and any other BBR event go directly to the care of the homeless bassets within the BBR family.

The dedicated volunteers who offered their countless hours of work in preperation made it a wonderful weekend of humans and hounds alike! Hats off to all of you who participated and attended! Here are some photos from BassetFest 2010. Click the album to view photos/

It has been a busy time at BuckBasset. The changes are long over due. Back in October I was diagnosed with breast cancer for the second time. In the last couple months I have had surgery and chemo making my ability to update the site a little harder than anticipated. But – we’re back!! I hope you enjoy the changes!

Just a note – if you find any links that are not working or have one to offer please let me know by emailing lisa@lisa-ritchie.com. Right now I am simply moving the information from one place to another. the next step will be to get the links all checked and then get more formatting done. It’ll be a never ending process that I am looking forward to!

BassetFest 2009 Rocked!!

I want to first extend a HUGE thank you to the BassetFest planning commitee, team leaders and all of the volunteers! Your dedication and hard work made this one of the most memorable weekends ever!

BassetFest is the biggest annual fundraiser for Basset Buddies Rescue, Inc. Each year it just gets bigger and better! The weather this year was absolutely perfect! Temp in the 70s, partly cloudy with a light breeze! Not only did BBR raise money for the homeless bassets within the Wisconsin, Minnesota and Northern Illinois area we had 9 hounds find their forever families over the weekend! We also had a number of folks step up and take in a foster dog! THANK YOU to all of you and congratulations to the wonderful bassets who have found their families!

Let’s Help Our Friends at House of Puddles!

From Jeanne Wells: “I’m really pleased to be able to offer prints for sale which will benefit the great hounds at the House of Puddles. These photos are from the annual HOP party, both the 2007 and 2008 get-togethers.

You would think that in a household consisting of nearly 20 basset hounds, that they would all blend together — but that’s not the case. Each one has their own unique personality, some more flamboyant than others, and whenever I have the camera out with them I try to capture that uniqueness. I certainly haven’t been able to catch all the dogs individually (you’re always working in a sea of snoots and tails!) and there are one or two real camera hounds, but I hope there’s enough variety here to be entertaining.

There are also people photos here, basset-owning visitors and their dogs. You’ll notice that some visiting dogs cling quite fiercely to their owners!

What I’d like to offer is 7 inch square silver gelatin prints, hand made on fibre based paper in the good old-fashioned darkroom. I make these to order, so a print will take up to a couple of weeks to ship. In the odd case that a negative doesn’t print well I will offer alternative ways of printing, such as lith printing, or bleach and redevelopment. I can also offer liquid silver emulsion prints for anyone who is interested. Because I do everything by hand, each print I make is different, and I want to make sure that you’re totally satisfied with your print when it arrives. If you’re not, just return the print and I’ll give you a complete refund.

I’ve made these reasonably priced, in open editions, and each print sold will benefit the dogs. Vet bills, food, medicines — these aren’t getting any cheaper. Why not pick up a nice photo and help the hounds at the same time?”
